Creating URL Channels & Custom Channels for Your Google Adsense

Create URL Channels

1. Login to your Adsense account and click on the 'Adsense Setup' tab.
2. You will then see a row of links appear beneath the tabs, click the 'Channels' link.
3. Then, select the right subtab for the product: Adsense for Content / Adsense for Search / Referrals and make sure that you are creating a URL Channel rather than a Custom Channel.
4. Click the 'Add New URL Channel' link to create a new URL Channel for each of your domains / subdomains / directory / pages (omit the 'www') into the URL box.
5. Once it's done, URL Channels will start collecting statistics instantly.



Note: URL Channels do not provide historical data prior its activation.


Create Custom Channels

1. Login to your Adsense account and click on the 'Adsense Setup' tab, followed by the 'Channels' link.
2. This time, we are looking at Adsense for Content Custom Channels. So, make sure you are on the right subtab for the product and channel. Click on 'Add New Custom Channel'.
3. Next, name your channels. Google support team suggests to name a channel in the pattern of Page+Location+Ad Format+Color Palette. This can provide precise and useful information when generating your channels report.
4. After you have entered the Channel Name, click 'Add Channels'.
5. Now, go back to 'Adsense Setup' tab and choose Adsense for Content to create your channel-specific ad code.
6. Choose the ad type, ad format, and color palette as usual, then in the Channel section, select the name of the channels you would like to add.
7. Click 'Continue' to get your Adsense ad code.
8. Now, copy and paste the code into your webpages. The channel identifier will start tracking performance of the ad.
