Google Adsense: URL Channels & Custom Channels Explained...

Google Adsense provides 2 channels for you to track which Adsense unit earns you the most revenue and how you can use this information to increase your Adsense earning. Channels give you a more detailed analysis as compared to the overall revenue reports. With channels, you can monitor the performance of each site, sections of the site, or even the individual ad units.

URL Channels

URL Channels are used to track ad performance across an entire site, across a subdomain of a site, within directories and for individual pages. You can use URL Channels to tell which of your domains is generating the most revenue and which page or directory of your site is doing well.

Custom Channels

You use Custom Channels to track which ad formats, colors, and placements are most effective on your site. To get the most out of Custom Channels, you shall track every ad unit. This way, you will have a set of reports that aggregates data from all of your ad units which offers you a deeper insight into your site's Adsense performance.
